Mission Possible will provide help and hope to people who are homeless. We have a joint-use agreement for the only location in the County that is permitted for a homeless shelter at 1135 Harrold Street. We will provide emergency shelter for those experiencing homelessness in Del Norte County using a Housing First Model with relationship-based case management. Our director is already successfully partnering with service agencies in the community such as the Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services, Behavioral Health, HUD, Sutter Coast Hospital, and the City of Crescent City. In the future, Mission Possible will be a full-service navigation center.
The guiding rationale for the Housing First approach is that homelessness is detrimental to families and individual well-being, and obstacles to economic self-sufficiency or family well-being are more easily addressed if a family is in permanent, stable housing. We serve all people who seek assistance who need emergency shelter: Children, women, men, and families of all ages. We have a diverse homeless population and our 2020 Point in Time count will provide more detail regarding demographics.
